President Bola Tinubu has directed the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, a political support group to distribute rice across the country to support Nigerians observing the Ramadan and Lenten fasts.
This was disclosed in a statement on Saturday by the Director-General of the group and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma.

According to the statement, the intervention is aimed at promoting national unity and providing support to citizens during a period of deep spiritual reflection for both Muslims and Christians.
Uzodinma said the initiative reflects the President’s commitment to compassion and solidarity during religious observances.
“Ramadan and Lent are seasons that remind us of sacrifice, charity, and care for one another,” he said.
The governor explained that the rice distribution would be carried out through the support group’s nationwide grassroots network to ensure that families across the country benefit.
Uzodinma added that, “Through this distribution, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors will ensure that families across Nigeria feel the spirit of togetherness during this sacred period.
“Under the directive, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors will coordinate the distribution through their nationwide grassroots network to ensure that families across Nigeria benefit from the intervention during this holy season when both Muslims and Christians are fasting.”
The statement noted that the initiative follows a similar programme implemented during the Christmas period, when rice was distributed to support Nigerians during the festive season.
According to Uzodinma, the programme demonstrates the administration’s continued commitment to supporting citizens during key religious and cultural celebrations.
He added that the distribution would cover both Muslim and Christian communities, reflecting the President’s emphasis on inclusivity and national unity.
