President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conferred one of Nigeria’s highest national honours, the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), on American billionaire philanthropist and co-founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates.
The honour is in recognition of his decade-long contributions to global health, education, and poverty alleviation, including strategic partnerships with Nigeria.
Bill Gates recently announced that he will donate his entire fortune worth over $200 billion to Africa.
Going by the largesse of President Tinubu, Nigeria may turn out being the first beneficiary of the donation.
