Senator Gbenga Daniel, the former Governor of Ogun State recently suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for alleged anti-party activities, is allegedly preparing to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Report has it that this decision follows his suspension last week alongside Kunle Folarin, ratified by the APC’s State Working Committee led by Chairman Chief Yemi Sanusi. A source close to the senator said his shift to the PDP could be announced “anytime from now.”

Evidence of his pending move earlier surfaced in Iperu—Daniel’s hometown—where campaign billboards featuring his image now adorn the PDP’s office, signaling a strong alignment with Hon. Ladi Adebutu’s campaign.
This potential defection would have been a notable shift in Ogun State’s political landscape, possibly reshaping electoral strategies ahead of forthcoming polls.
However, the former Governor of Ogun State described the claims as false and reaffirmed his commitment to the All Progressives Congress.
His response comes days after he and Mr. Kunle Folarin were suspended by the Ogun State chapter of the APC over the alleged anti-party activities.
Daniel, who represents Ogun East Senatorial District, in a statement by the OGD Media Office on Monday, said the purported plan to rejoin PDP is far from the truth, stressing that the Senator remains a member of APC.
The statement reads: “For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Gbenga Daniel is and remains a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, a Senator and remains on the platform of the APC.”
