Candidates believed to be students of Unity Model School in Asaba, Delta State, were allegedly forced to write one of their WAEC exams at night relying on torchlights due to a lack of electricity in the school.
A video of the students in the exam hall was recorded by an unknown woman.
In the video, the woman is heard condemning the officials for putting the students through the discomfort.
The woman claimed the exam was supposed to be held by 2:00pm, but the officials only brought the question papers by 6:00pm.
By the time the students sat for the exam, it was already dark. As there was no electric power at the venue and indeed, the entire school a torchlight had to be stationed in the classroom.
“It’s not OK,” the woman is heard saying of the children’s plight.
She added that even during her time, when lanterns were common, they were not subjected to such harsh conditions.
