TheĀ University of Lagos Alumni Association will today (Friday) honour the Managing Director of Eleganza Industrial City Limited, Chief (Dr.) (Mrs.) Folashade Okoya,Ā with the Distinguished Alumni Award during its 55th anniversary awards and recognition dinner.
The prestigious event, which will be held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, will bring together high-flying alumni of the University of Lagos who have distinguished themselves in public service, academia, and the corporate world.
The organisers said the event will be graced by Nigeriaās Vice President,Ā Senator Kashim Shettima, who will serve as the Special Guest of Honour, while the Ogbeni Oja of Ijebuland,Ā Olorāogun (Dr.) Sonny Kuku, will chair the occasion, with the President of the Unilag Alumni Association Worldwide, Ifeoluwa Ayodele, as the chief host.
The statement said, āAmong the distinguished honourees, Mrs. Shade Okoya stands out for her exceptional accomplishments in industry and entrepreneurship. A proud alumna of the University of Lagos, where she earned a Bachelorās degree in Sociology after earlier studying Banking and Finance, Mrs. Okoya has, over the years, become a symbol of resilience, innovation, and leadership in Nigeriaās manufacturing sector.ā
Speaking about the honour,Ā Okoya expressed deep gratitude to her alma mater, describing the recognition as a testament to hard work, mentorship, and perseverance.
āI am grateful for being recognised and conferred with this award by my alma mater,ā she said. āThis would not have been possible without the inspiration I have received from my husband, Chief (Dr.) Rasaq Akanni Okoya (CON), from whom I have derived the strength to challenge myself and perform better at each stage.ā
