A video showing the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, inspecting residential buildings under construction for judges in Abuja has generated mixed reactions across social media platforms.
The footage, which surfaced online on Monday, September 22, 2025, was shared by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media.

In the clip, Wike, accompanied by some aides, was captured touring the project site at Katampe District of the FCT, where the new Judges’ Quarters are being developed.
Confirming the visit, Lere Olayinka posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account: “Also today, FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, inspected the ongoing construction of Judges Quarters in Katampe District, Abuja.” He also attached photos and a link to the video, which quickly went viral.
The project, designed to provide modern housing for members of the judiciary, is part of the minister’s wider push to improve infrastructure in the capital city. However, shortly after the post began circulating, Nigerians on social media expressed a range of opinions.
The Minister is also constructing a massive edifice for the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
While some users commended Wike for prioritizing accommodation for judicial officers and praised his hands-on style of governance, others questioned the timing, cost, and motives behind the initiative.
A few critics raised concerns over whether similar attention would be given to other pressing needs in the FCT, while supporters argued that adequate housing for judges was essential to strengthening the justice system.
