The d3ath triggered violent protests and led to the burning of the Rano Divisional Police Headquarters.
Abdullahi, who was arrested for allegedly violating a traffic rule, allegedly d!ed during interrogation. Eyewitnesses and residents claimed that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), identified as Baba Ali, subjected the young man to a severe beating, which resulted in his d3ath.
A resident of the town said, “He was not a criminal. He was picked up for a traffic matter. People are angry because he d!ed while in the custody of those meant to protect him.”
The news of his d3ath spread rapidly, prompting youths to march to the police station demanding answers. Two youths were reportedly shot and are currently receiving medical care at a local hospital.
In retaliation, the angry crowd hurled stones at the officers and eventually overpowered them, setting the police facility ablaze. The DPO, according to sources, sustained serious injuries in the clash.
