
Police operatives from Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, have arrested a member of a notorious armed robbery gang, Segun Hammed, a.k.a OPA for allegedly raping a 62-year old woman in the presence of her two children during an operation in Ogun State.
According to P.M.EXPRESS , the incident happened on 27th February, 2025, at Obada Oko area of Ogun State, where the victim resides.
This was disclosed by the Zone’s Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ayuba Umma, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect, Hammed with two other members of his gang now in custody undergoing interrogation over their alleged.conduct.
The Zone’s PRO stated:
“One of the suspects Segun Hammed ‘m’ known as “OPA” in the underworld, confessed to taking part in a robbery operation at Obada Oko on 27th January, 2025, where he forcefully had unlawful canal knowledge of a 62-year old woman right in the presence of her children. The victims identified him and narrated their ordeal in the hands of this gang.”
“During an interview with the 62-year old woman, she stated that the suspect Segun Hammed, had wanted to have unlawful canal knowledge of her daughter but she pleaded with him. He then turned to her and forcefully had his way in the presence of her two children.”
On how the suspects were arrested, the image maker stated:
“An Intelligence report at the disposal of the AIG has it that there is a syndicate of suspected armed robbers/AIYE cult members, who specialized in robbing motorcycle riders and hijacking cement trucks along Onigbedu in Ewekoro L.G.A of Ogun State.”
“Sequel upon that, a team of detectives from the Zonal Dragon Squad 2 were detailed to investigate and bring the suspects to book.”
“On 08/05/2025 three (3) suspects: Damilare Babatunde ‘m’ aged 30yrs (a.k.a. Drey), Fatai Ishola ‘m’ aged 25yrs, Segun Hammed ‘m’ aged 28yrs (a.k.a. Opa) were arrested at Sabo Hausa Market Eleweran, Abeokuta, while planning a robbery operation.”
“The following items were recovered from the suspects: One (1) locally made pistol, Three (3) Live cartridges, Two (2) Unregistered Bajaj Motorcycles and One (1) Berreta Pistol with Thirteen (13) Live Ammunition. Meanwhile, Three Hundred Thousand Naira N300,000.00k cash, one iPhone 7+, one small Tecno Phone and Opay Digital Service & UBA ATM cards made away with in the robbery operation were said to be in possession of a suspect at large.”
The Zonal PPRO stated that Investigation is ongoing and efforts have been intensified to arrest other suspects at large and recover all exhibits, and thereafter the suspects will be charged to Court upon completion of investigations.
