The outgoing Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji, was allegedly subjected to a public show of shame by his officers, following the announcement of his retirement and replacement by President Bola Tinubu.
In a now-viral video as seen in the Osun Defender, several officers of the service were seen openly booing Jaji, chanting, “He don go,” “Barawo,” and “Oloshi” — slangs in Pidgin and Yoruba, loosely translating to “He’s gone,” “Thief,” and “Useless person.”

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board had earlier confirmed the President’s approval of Deputy Controller-General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new helmsman of the Federal Fire Service.

His appointment takes effect from August 14, 2025, a day after Jaji is due to retire upon clocking the mandatory age of 60.
In a statement signed by the Board’s Secretary, Major General A.M. Jibril (retd.), Olumode was lauded for his depth of experience and professional qualifications.
