The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba AbdulRasheed Akanbi, has said that it took divine intervention for him to survive after a trailer allegedly rammed into him in what he described as a deliberate assassination attempt.
The Osun monarch shared his testimony in a now-viral video released on Tuesday, recounting how the heavy-duty vehicle, which he claims was “sent to kill,” hit him before overturning and becoming severely damaged.

“A trailer that was sent to kill us, hit us and fell flat and extremely dented. It was dragged away by angels of God,” Oba Akanbi declared in the video.
While he did not disclose specific details regarding the date or location of the incident, the traditional ruler used the occasion to preach about the power of faith and the importance of unwavering trust in God.
“Except you do not choose God. Don’t have doubts while trusting God,” he added, attributing his survival to divine protection.
The dramatic account has stirred reactions across social media, with many expressing shock, admiration, and support for the monarch.
Oba Akanbi, known for his outspoken and spiritual convictions, has frequently emphasized divine authority in his public engagements, often blending tradition and religious faith in his leadership of the Iwo Kingdom.
As of press time, no official confirmation or details have been released by law enforcement authorities regarding the alleged incident. However, palace aides say the monarch remains in good health and high spirits following the ordeal.
The revelation adds to a growing list of near-death experiences recounted by high-profile Nigerians, reinforcing public discourse on divine intervention and the safety of prominent figures.
