The senior special adviser to the former governor of Rivers State and FCT minister Nyesom Wike recently reacted after former vice presidential aspirant, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa made it known that he regretted running with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in 2023.
The switch of allegiance from the People’s Democratic Party to the All Progressive Congress by former Delta State governor and former vice presidential aspirant Senator Ifeanyi Okowa had generated massive reactions from the general public after the reports of his decisions were made public.

While many condemned the move, asserting that Nigeria was moving towards a one-party state, Lere Olayinka, the senior special adviser to FCT minister Nyesom Wike had different thoughts.
According to his statements which were shared on his official X handle, while sharing the cryptic message of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, the special adviser in a mocking tone re-echoed back the senator’s reasons for dumping the party.
From the reasons giving by the former governor, it can be deduced that his regrets stemmed from the fact that his people were interested in supporting the main presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Senator Ifeanyi Okowa had also made it known that accepting the role of a vice president was a misalignment with the prevailing sentiments in Delta.
These were some of the words of Nyesom Wike’s senior special adviser which he wrote on his official X handle,
“….Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has expressed regret over his decision to run as the vice presidential candidate alongside Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 presidential election, admitting it may have contradicted the wishes of his people….an issue he said he deeply reflected upon….” He wrote.
