Nasiru Ado Bayero, the Emir of Bichi and father of President Muhammadu Buhari’s soon-to-be daughter-in-law, has expressed his wish that his daughter should have graduated from the University before getting married.
Zahra Ado Bayo and Yusuf Buhari are scheduled to get married on Friday at the Emir’s palace in Bichi.
No fewer than 7 governors have visited the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, the older brother of Zahra’s father in June to formalise the wedding plans.
A report some weeks ago said that the wedding will be coordinated by a 145-member committee.
The team will also be responsible for organising the coronation event where the staff of office will be presented to the bride’s father, the Emir of Bichi by the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Speaking about his closeness to his children, the Emir of Bichi told Daily Trust that it was a difficult decision for him to marry off any of his children because of his closeness to them.
According to him, “I am very close to my children, so sending away Zahra ia also an issue for me, but we thank God.
“She is a young girl, only 20; and she’s in her final year in the University studying architecture.
“I would have loved her to stay and finish her school and live with me a little longer, but we cannot change what God has ordained, we can only pray and wish them a successful married life,” he said.
Emir Bayero however found solace from the Hadiths, especially the part where the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “When you successfully raise three daughters and marry them off, Allah will give you a place in paradise”.
