At least 7 people including a military officer’s wife are alleged to have been kidnapped and taken to an unknown location in a fresh attack by some terrorists in Kaduna State.
The victims are reported to have been whisked away from the Keke A and Keke B areas of New Millennium City in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to residents of the area, the attack started around 11:00 pm on Tuesday and lasted through to Wednesday morning. The assailants targetted the house of the military officer who was away during the attack.
A resident told Daily Trust that the terrorists immediately picked up the officer’s wife the moment they learnt he was away and moved to the neighbouring houses.
The resident said that, “The bandits came around 11:00 pm. I think their main target was a big house at Keke A. The house belongs to a military officer, but at the time of the attack, the officer was not at home, so the kidnappers broke into the house and picked his wife.
“They also kidnapped another man who is the immediate neighbour of the military officer, in fact, the neighbour was picked alongside his eight-year-old daughter, but they dropped the daughter when her mother continued shouting at top of her voice.
“I think it was at the point they started shooting sporadically to scare away people who might think of coming to their aid and while all that was happening, another man who was just returning home in his car ran into the Kidnappers.
“He was the third person that was taken away,” Daily Trust quoted the source as saying.
The source narrated further that many residents who were still outside at the moment fled. He said they only saw many shoes on the ground after the sunrise and became even more scared that those must be the shoes of the people kidnapped.
One of them who reportedly escaped the attack, however, said the shoes belong to those who ran away.
A resident of Keke B told reporters that a man, his wife and two of their housemaids were also kidnapped during the attack.
He said, “I was just returning home and I was taking a bath when I started hearing gunshots. I later learnt that a man, his wife and two of their house girls were kidnapped in Keke B.
“I was so terrified. I just got out of the bathroom abruptly and switched off all the lights inside my house. The gunshots were so close; it was like the bandits were inside my compound.”
The Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Muhammad Jalige who confirmed the attack, however, could not give further comment when he was contacted on the attack, Naija News understands.
