
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently in Makurdi to commiserate with the victims of suspected herdsmen k!llings in Benue State.
This comes after the horrifying the deadly armed herders attack on Yelewata community in Guma Local Government Area, which left over 200 people dead.
The President touched down at the Nigerian Air Force Base Airport in Makurdi at exactly 12:58 p.m. and was received by key government officials, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.
Also on hand to welcome the President were the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, along with federal lawmakers from the state.
Governors from the North Central region, several ministers, and top government appointees were also present in Benue to receive the President, underscoring the gravity of the situation and the federal government’s resolve to address the ongoing security crisis in the state.
After the arrival formalities at the airport, President Tinubu proceeded to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) in Makurdi, where he interacted with survivors of the massacre and offered words of comfort.



The President visited the survivors alongside the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State.
The visit comes days after the Yelewata community was attacked in a night raid by suspected armed herdsmen, marking one of the deadliest assaults in the region this year.
The President is expected to participate in a stakeholders’ town hall meeting at the Benue State Government House later in the day. The session will bring together political leaders, traditional rulers, security chiefs, and civil society actors to discuss a sustainable response to years of violent incursions by armed herders.
