The crisis within the Labour Party has worsened as the party’s National Caretaker Committee, led by Senator Nenadi Usman, has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to Barrister Julius Abure to defend himself or face disciplinary action.
At a press conference held in Abuja on Wednesday, Usman described Abure as an “impostor,” insisting that he is no longer the party’s legitimate leader following a Supreme Court decision.

She urged Abure to stop attacking the Labour Party and its leaders, and instead concentrate on responding to the serious allegations of corruption and forgery made against him.
The leadership crisis escalated after the Supreme Court overturned a previous judgment that affirmed Abure as the party’s national chairman. Despite the ruling, Abure and his loyalists have continued to hold on to power.
