The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) convention held last night amid sporadic and endless gunshots.
Reports say it is the norm as contestants take to shooting as a show of wit, resilience and power.
There are also reports that the candidates emerge from rival school cult gangs. It is therefore an occasion to settle scores.
In some instances, machetes are used freely between the rival gangs, in some cases leading to deaths and various degrees of injuries.
Concerned members of the public and some of the students react:

“Sadly, it also boasts of its fair share of cultists, thugs, hoodlums etc. NANS needs a COMPLETE and TOTAL overhaul.
