Supporters of reinstated Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara have once again converged on the Government House in Port Harcourt, anticipating his formal return to office following the end of the six-month emergency rule.
Crowds trooped to the gates of the Government House early Friday morning, drumming and singing in expectation of Fubara’s arrival.

Governor Fubara, who returned to the country on Thursday after vacationing in Europe, is currently in Abuja and scheduled to fly into Rivers State later today.
Meanwhile, supporters are also gathering at the VIP Lounge of the Port Harcourt International Airport to receive him.
His absence on Thursday had stirred confusion among loyalists after hundreds had turned out to welcome him, only to disperse by midday when he neither appeared nor made a public statement.
The uncertainty was addressed by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who disclosed during a televised interview that the governor left Europe on Thursday morning. Wike, who confirmed he had spoken with Fubara, assured that peace had returned to the state after President Bola Tinubu lifted the emergency rule.
