Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno has asked members of his Executive Council and political appointees, to either decamp with him from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or resign from their positions.
According to Vanguard, the Governor made the statement during a State Executive Council meeting on Thursday.

Governor Eno also revealed his decision to leave the PDP, putting months of political speculation to rest.
“It is no longer news that I have made up my mind to defect to the All Progressives Congress,” the governor declared, citing his admiration for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership style as a major factor behind his decision.
“I am in love with the leadership style of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu,” Eno stated. “As such, I would want to align with him.”
He warned his appointees against harbouring hopes of retaining their posts while remaining loyal to the PDP.
“Apart from elected officials like House of Assembly members and Local Government Chairmen, I have nothing to negotiate with you, Follow me or Leave” the governor told the gathering.
Governor Eno further dismissed claims that anyone could use the PDP structure to undermine his political influence after his defection.
“Let me tell you, anybody who believes when I leave PDP he will use the party structure to fight me is lying because I will still control the PDP structure,” he said.
He also added, “Anybody who claims he is not aware of my intention to leave PDP is still living in the 18th century.”
