The Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants have taken responsibility for a d3adly assault on a Nigerian Army base and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) near Mainte in Borno State on Monday.
The update was shared on the X handle of security analyst, Brant @BrantPhilip_ on Wednesday.

According to the group, the assault k!lled at least 15 soldiers and militiamen, destroyed the base, seven vehicles, and resulted in the seizure of several weapons.
The claim has sparked reactions on social media.
@Crespo: “15 soldiers k!lled or what did I just read. Pls Tell us this is not true. We can’t continue like this and who’s leaking military movement to the public.”
Other commentators questioned the details of the attack.
Pforpeelyidk1 asked whether the base itself was attacked or just a specific position and suggested the report might be exaggerated to support pro-Nigerian militia narratives.
Another user, SleazyUd, criticized the security situation, saying: ,”What are those soldiers doing? They are always sitting ducks waiting to defend all the time.”
The Nigerian army has not yet confirmed the details of the attack.
