According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday, September 13, 2025, the First Lady of Anambra State, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has thrown down a challenge to Senator Uche Ekwunife. She asked both of them to swear before the Blessed Virgin Mary to prove their integrity and also proposed paternity tests for their children.
The confrontation was sparked by remarks from Senator Ekwunife, the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who alleged that Mrs. Soludo had maintained close ties and worked with former governor, Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju.

In her response, issued in a press statement on Friday, Mrs. Soludo accused Ekwunife of deliberately spreading falsehoods and dragging her children into unnecessary political controversies.
She condemned the lawmaker’s actions as defamatory, warning that unless the claims were withdrawn and a formal apology issued within three days, legal action would be pursued.
According to Mrs. Soludo, the matter could be resolved through a transparent spiritual process.
“Since Senator Uche Ekwunife now professes to be a Catholic, I am challenging her for the two of us to take an oath of chastity and loyalty in any cathedral, in front of the Blessed Sacrament and the Holy Bible,” she declared.
She continued, “I will swear—alongside my children—that in my 55 years of life, I have had only one man, my husband, Chukwuma Soludo. You should equally swear—with your children or your political career at stake—that from the day you married your husband, you have never been unfaithful to him.”
Taking it further, the governor’s wife also invited Senator Ekwunife to consent to DNA tests on their children at three recognized hospitals in London, promising to take care of every expense, including flight arrangements.
She emphasized that if the tests confirmed her rival’s claims, she would not only publicly congratulate her but also reward her financially.
Presenting herself as a devout woman committed to her family, Mrs. Soludo highlighted her strong religious foundation and traditional values.
“I married him as a virgin and my fidelity to him in 33 years of marriage and for life is ironclad,” she asserted.
