The Interim National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has strongly criticized Datti Baba-Ahmed for condemning the ADC coalition, describing his actions during the unveiling meeting as both improper and misleading.
Speaking on News Central TV, Abdullahi stressed that anyone making public statements must be accountable for their words, questioning why Baba-Ahmed, who is not even a member of the coalition, would brand it as deceptive.

He added that such comments not only misinform the public but also attempt to undermine the credibility of the coalition’s genuine efforts.
Abdullahi recalled that during the coalition’s unveiling, Baba-Ahmed walked in uninvited and took a seat at the high table, an action that left many members surprised and embarrassed. Out of respect, members chose not to confront him publicly, but according to Abdullahi, Baba-Ahmed never returned for subsequent meetings, making his sudden criticisms appear inconsistent and opportunistic.
He further emphasized that coalitions are built on trust, discipline, and genuine participation, not on grandstanding or making careless remarks on national TV. Abdullahi maintained that Baba-Ahmed’s behavior undermines the seriousness of opposition politics, warning that such actions weaken collective efforts to hold government accountable.
He concluded by saying that if Baba-Ahmed had genuine concerns, the appropriate step would have been to engage with coalition members directly instead of attempting to discredit them from the outside.
