Veteran Nollywood actress Genevieve Nnaji has broken her silence hours after reports that she was suffering from mental illness emerged.
Genevieve has been away from the social media space for some time, and many Nigerians have been worried about what could be wrong with her.
Her disappearance became obvious when she shunned the traditional marriage ceremony of her colleague and friend Rita Dominic.
At that time, the veteran actress trended on Twitter and was dragged online for not also acknowledging Rita Dominic by sending congratulatory messages as some of her colleagues did.
A few weeks later, Genevieve celebrated her 43rd birthday in silence with no social media posts only to return to Instagram to delete all her posts and unfollow everyone on her page.
As Nigerians continued to express concern for Genevieve Nnaji’s absence, an Instagram blogger published a report alleging that the veteran actress has been in the hospital for some months in Texas over mental illness.
The report alleged that Genevieve Nnaji has been on drugs for a long time but was covered up by friends and family.
Debunking the reports, Genevieve Nnaji took to her Instagram story to share a video of herself painting and smiling.
She seemed to be chatting with someone in the background. That post that surfaced in the night of Tuesday is the only one in her instagram page with a massive 8.5 million followers.
