The First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, has been given a new Chieftaincy title in the Southeast of Nigeria.
She was conferred with the title of Ugosimba-1 of Enugu.
The former Senator received the title when she visited the state to distribute professional kits to Midwives through her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
The ceremony took place in the presence of traditional rulers, political leaders, and dignitaries from across the South East, who gathered to honour her legacy of public service and advocacy.
Oluremi Tinubu, a long-time advocate for women and youth, was described by the traditional council as a “symbol of humility, leadership, and positive transformation.”
The title conferred by the Igwe-in-Council of the Enugu traditional authority reflects a long-standing cultural practice of recognizing non-indigenes who have made significant impact across Nigeria.
“This honour is not just for me, but for every woman in Nigeria striving to make a difference,” the First Lady said in her acceptance speech. “I dedicate this title to the women and youths whose voices deserve to be heard and empowered.”

Mrs Tinubu described the traditional rulers as the eyes and ears of government at the grassroots and appealed to them to align with her vision to promote the health and well-being of their subjects.
She further urged the traditional rulers to support her advocacies against cervical cancer, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and Female Genital Mutilation.
