The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has commenced an investigation into a reported attack on the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the forthcoming Anambra State election, Jude Ezenwafor.
Ezenwafor survived an assassination attempt on his life in Abuja on Friday night when gunmen suspected to be assassins attacked and shot him.
He survived and was subsequently admitted in an undisclosed private hospital in the nation’s capital for medical treatment.
Reports of the Anambra PDP candidate’s d3ath had emerged online on Sunday.
However, further reports say that Ezenwafor is in critical condition and currently battling for his life.
When contacted, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh told DAILY POST that the command had launched an investigation into the incident.
She, however, said the “true position and situation surrounding the incident” cannot be ascertained at the moment.
