Children of the late Doctor Tosin Ajayi, Managing Director, First Foundation Medical Centre have proclaimed publicly that former beauty queen, Helen Prest-Ajayi was not their father’s wife.
The children from Doctor Ajayi’s previous marriage include Mrs Tomi Deru, Dr Olumide Ajayi, Mrs Omolade Soetan, Mrs Mayowa Okeowo and Bisola Ajayi.
All five are children of Doctor Ajayi’s estranged wife, Mrs Oluwayemisi Ajayi.
According to them, it became necessary that the records are set straight in view of the controversy that their father’s death has generated.
Since the death of their father in April 2020, they have had running battles with Helen Prest resulting in a 10-month delay in burial arrangements.
At the burial, a mild drama ensued when the ex-beauty queen wanted to perform the dust to dust rites ahead of the children.
They all insisted that she wait for them to go first while she takes her turn after them all.
Another slip occurred when during an obituary announcement, two of Helen’s children from a previous marriage were announced as Doctor Ajayi’s children. Their pictures were displayed as such when no mention was made of his biological children.
In a statement by the Doctor’s own children titled ‘Let the Truth be Told about Helen Prest,’ the children said that Helen Prest had stated in court documents that she was their father’s companion.
They insist that they cannot now consider her a wife.
Excerpts of the statement:
“We have taken this decision because it is clear to us that Helen Prest/Helen Davies (parading herself under the name of Mrs Helen Prest-Ajayi) continues to seek to perpetuate a lie/fraud on the public by exploiting our predisposition as a quiet family to maintain an honourable and dignified silence.
“We must set the record straight that our mother, Mrs Oluwayemisi Ajayi, and our father, Doctor Olutosin Ajayi, Founder/CEO of First Foundation, who got married in July 1974 under the Marriage Act, remained married until our father’s death in April 2020 (ie, they were never divorced).
“We must also set the record straight that Helen Prest was never married to our father, whether under Marriage Act, by customary marriage, or any form of marriage known to our law.
“As many lawyers know, and Helen Prest who presumably herself is a lawyer, ought to know, our father in any event could not have been legally married to anyone else without first divorcing our mother, which he never did.”
The funeral service for late Doctor Tosin Ajayi held at Trinity House, Water Corporation Road, Victoria Island.
In her final tribute to he late husband,

“Saying our last goodbyes to my dearest kind, humble, wise, caring, loving, intellectually brilliant, generous, charming, fun loving husband. He was a doting father to our children, an icon in the medical field and a huge philanthropist.
“Adieu ‘Doc” dearest I ‘apolo’ for everything you have been put through, but God took control to help me give you a befitting and honorable burial. You are heaven’s gain and have gone forth to meet our deceased children Taiwo and Oluwatosin junior Idowu Ajayi – rest on in peace my love.”
