Professor Usman Yusuf, former executive secretary of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), has given his take on the rising level of insecurity across Nigeria.
According to him, banditry in Nigeria does not require a military solution but needs to be tackled with local measures, which include negotiations.
However, during an interview with TrustTV News, Professor Usman Yusuf acknowledged that Nigerians are experiencing hunger and also described hunger as a threat to national security.
He maintained that during the past administration, the former president, Muhammadu Buhari, commanded an army general to move into Sambisa Forest, the base of Boko Haram terrorists, and this move made a substantial difference in the Nigerian security.
According to the video, “A general was in Sambisa forest during Buhari’s tenure; Buhari asked him to move there, and he did, and they made a substantial difference.”
