There is an alleged ongoing attack by suspected herdsmen in Agan community, Makurdi, the Benue State capital, with many feared dead and several others injured.
Eyewitnesses say that the assailants invaded the community at about 6:00 p.m., shooting sporadically and setting multiple homes ablaze.

The attack has led surviving villagers to flee from the area.
Agan is a semi-urban settlement located just minutes from the heart of Makurdi. The attack didn’t draw an immediate response from security forces.
A video, now circulating widely on social media, captures the moment panicked residents ran for safety, some clutching children.
The latest assault adds to the wave of violence that has engulfed parts of Benue State in recent weeks. The state has become a flashpoint for deadly clashes between farming communities and suspected herders.
In April, no fewer than 56 people were k!lled in coordinated attacks on Logo and Gbagir communities in Ukum Local Government Area, also allegedly carried out by armed herdsmen
