There is confusion right now at the All Progressives Congress (APC) convention as some members are alleged to have attempted to swap the delegates’ list for the presidential primary election to favour Senate President, Ahmed Lawan.
A source told The Cable that, “The secretary of the accreditation committee, Senator Gumel, a personal assistant to Lawan. Orji Kalu, senate whip, and Hope Uzodimma, are also working to ensure that only delegates that will vote Lawan will get into Eagle Square.”
Lawan who is one of the contenders for the ruling party’s ticket has refused to step down despite northern APC governors insisting that the ticket be zoned to the South.
There was even more confusion yesterday, Monday evening when the APC national chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu announced Lawan as the consensus candidate of the party.
The announcement was immediately rejected by President Muhammadu Buhari, APC governors and some members of the National Working Committee of the party.
