The Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Youth Council Worldwide has given former Anambra State Governor’s wife, Ebelechukwu Obiano an ultimatum following her assault on Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu’s widow.
Mrs Obiano was seen in viral videos walking up to Nigeria’s former Ambassador to Spain, Bianca Ojukwu to provoke her with insults after shoving her.
The provocation prompted the latter to caution the immediate past First Lady who doubled down on the provocation.
Bianca then stood up and slapped her aggressor 3 times on the cheek.
The fracas happened at the swearing in ceremony of the new Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo at the government house, Awka.
In its reaction, Ohanaeze called for an immediate apology to the entire Ndigbo from the Obiano family.
In a statement by its President-General, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the group described the incident as an insult on the entire Igbo race and maintained that they would not stand still while anyone denigrate Ojukwu’s family.
Nnabuike said that, “we were shock-stricken to watch the trending video of an unprovoked attack on the wife of Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu by Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano.
To say the least, this is the height of insult and embarrassment on the entire Igbo race, bearing in mind what the Ojukwu family represents for the entire Igboland.
“Consequently, we are charging the Obiano family to immediately offer an unreserved apology to the Igbo race or face dire consequences. They have an ultimatum to apologize for that barbaric action or have the entire Igbo youths to contend with.
“Having said this, I appeal to the Igbo youths, including Biafra agitators who are so provoked by Mrs. Obiano’s action, to calm down while we wait for the family.”
